Caleb Privacy Policy

Web & Things ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Caleb mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

Account Information

When you create an account or sign in with Google or Apple, we collect:

• Email address
• Display name
• Profile photo (if using Google or Apple Sign In)
• Account creation date

User-Generated Content

When you use the App, we store:

• Goals you create (title, description, check-in schedule)
• Check-in records and dates
• Streak data and progress history
• Accountability buddy relationships
• Messages sent to and received from accountability buddies

Device Information

To provide push notifications and app functionality, we collect:

• Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) token for push notifications
• Device timezone for scheduling check-in reminders

Local Data (Device Only)

The following data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:

• Widget configuration and cached data (via SwiftData)
• App preferences and settings

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Provide and maintain the App's core functionality
• Track your goals and check-in progress
• Connect you with accountability buddies
• Deliver messages between you and your accountability partners
• Send push notifications for check-in reminders and buddy activity
• Sync your data across devices
• Authenticate your account
• Improve and optimize the App

Data Sharing

With Accountability Buddies

When you connect with an accountability buddy, they can see:

• Your display name
• The goal(s) you've shared with them
• Your check-in status and streak for shared goals
• Messages you send to them

Your email address is used to send buddy invitations but is not displayed to other users within the App.

With Third-Party Services

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Service providers necessary to operate the App (see Third-Party Services below)
• Law enforcement when required by law

Third-Party Services

Caleb uses the following third-party services:

Google Firebase

• Firebase Authentication (account management)
• Cloud Firestore (data storage)
• Firebase Cloud Messaging (push notifications)

Google Sign In

• Optional authentication method
• Subject to Google's Privacy Policy

Apple Sign In

• Optional authentication method
• Subject to Apple's Privacy Policy
• You may choose to hide your email address when using Apple Sign In

Resend

• Email delivery service for buddy invitation emails
• We share your email address only when sending invitations you've initiated

Data Storage and Security

Your data is stored securely using Google Firebase services, which provides:

• Encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)
• Encryption at rest
• Secure authentication mechanisms
• Access controls and security rules

We implement appropriate technical and organizational measures to protect your personal information against unauthorized access, alteration, disclosure, or destruction.

Data Retention

We retain your data for as long as your account is active. Specifically:

• Account information is retained until you delete your account
• Goals and check-in history are retained for the lifetime of your account
• Messages are retained until the associated goal or buddy relationship is deleted
• When you delete your account, all associated data is permanently deleted

Children's Privacy

Caleb is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13 without verifiable parental consent.

If you are a parent or guardian and believe your child has provided us with personal information without your consent, please contact us immediately at admin@webandthings.com.

Parents and guardians are responsible for:

• Creating and managing accounts for children under 13
• Supervising children's use of the App
• Monitoring accountability buddy connections
• Reviewing messages sent and received

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: Request a copy of your personal data
• Correct: Update or correct inaccurate data
• Delete: Delete your account and all associated data
• Export: Request a portable copy of your data
• Withdraw consent: Opt out of optional data collection at any time
• Disconnect: Remove accountability buddy connections

To exercise these rights, you can:

• Use the in-app settings to manage your data
• Delete your account via Settings > Account > Delete Account

Push Notifications

Caleb sends push notifications for:

• Check-in reminders at your scheduled time
• Accountability buddy invitation notifications
• Messages from your accountability buddies

You can manage notification preferences in your device settings or within the App settings.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by:

• Posting the new Privacy Policy on this page
• Updating the "Last Updated" date
• Sending an in-app notification for material changes

Your continued use of the App after changes are posted constitutes acceptance of the updated Privacy Policy.
