Web & Things ("we," "our," or "us") operates the Caption Pilot mobile application (the "App"). This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information when you use our App.

Information We Collect

YouTube Video Data

When you use the App, we process:

• YouTube video URLs you provide
• Video transcripts extracted from YouTube
• Video metadata (title, duration, thumbnail)

This data is used solely to generate captions and is not stored on our servers beyond what is needed to deliver the service.

Generated Content

When you use the App, we store locally on your device:

• Captions generated by the AI
• Caption history and favorites
• Saved videos and channels
• Your caption style and platform preferences

Local Data (Device Only)

The following data is stored only on your device and is not transmitted to our servers:

• Caption history and favorites (via SwiftData)
• Saved videos and channels
• App preferences and settings
• Usage tracking for free tier limits

Purchase Information

If you purchase a subscription or the Remove Ads option:

• Purchase transactions are processed entirely by Apple through the App Store
• We do not collect or store your payment information
• We receive confirmation of your purchase status to unlock features

How We Use Your Information

We use your information to:

• Extract video transcripts from YouTube URLs you provide
• Generate AI-powered social media captions
• Save your caption history and favorites locally on your device
• Track free tier usage to enforce monthly limits
• Display advertisements to free users
• Manage your subscription status
• Improve and optimize the App

Data Sharing

We do not sell your personal information. We share data only with:

• Service providers necessary to operate the App (see Third-Party Services below)
• Law enforcement when required by law

Third-Party Services

Caption Pilot uses the following third-party services:

YouTube API

• Used to retrieve video metadata and transcripts
• Video URLs you provide are sent to YouTube's servers
• Subject to Google's Privacy Policy

Google Gemini AI

• Used to generate social media captions from video transcripts
• Transcript text is sent to Google's Gemini API for processing
• Subject to Google's Privacy Policy and AI Terms of Service

Google AdMob

• Used to display advertisements to free-tier users
• May collect device identifiers and usage data for ad targeting
• Premium users and users who purchase "Remove Ads" do not see ads
• Subject to Google's Privacy Policy

Data Storage and Security

Caption Pilot is designed with a privacy-first approach:

• Caption history and user data are stored locally on your device using SwiftData
• No account or personal information is stored on our servers
• Video transcripts are processed in real-time and not persistently stored on our servers
• All API communications use encryption in transit (TLS/SSL)

Data Retention

Since Caption Pilot stores data locally on your device:

• Caption history is retained on your device until you delete it
• Uninstalling the app removes all locally stored data
• Video transcripts are processed in real-time and not retained after caption generation
• Purchase status is managed by the Apple App Store

Children's Privacy

Caption Pilot is intended for users 13 years of age and older. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children under 13.

Your Rights

You have the right to:

• Access: View all data stored locally in the App
• Delete: Delete individual captions, favorites, or all data by uninstalling the App
