Frequently Asked Questions
Getting Started
How do I get started with Bennett?
Download Bennett from the App Store and open it. You'll be guided through an onboarding flow where you can set up your first bills, budget categories, and spending goals. Bennett offers a free trial so you can explore all features before subscribing.
Do I need to create an account?
No account creation is required. Bennett stores your data locally on your device and uses your Apple ID for iCloud sync and subscriptions. There's no separate sign-up process.
Is my financial data secure?
Yes. All your financial data is stored locally on your device. If you have iCloud enabled, data is encrypted and synced through Apple's CloudKit infrastructure. We do not have access to your financial information on our servers. See our Privacy Policy for full details.
Subscription & Billing
How does the free trial work?
Eligible users get a 30-day free trial with full access to all Bennett features. A payment method is required to start the trial, but you won't be charged until the trial period ends. You can cancel anytime during the trial at no cost.
How do I cancel my subscription?
Go to your iPhone's Settings > Apple ID > Subscriptions > Bennett, then tap "Cancel Subscription." You can also manage your subscription from within the Bennett app under Settings. Cancellation takes effect at the end of your current billing period.
How do I request a refund?
Refunds are handled by Apple. Visit reportaproblem.apple.com, sign in with your Apple ID, find your Bennett purchase, and submit a refund request.
How do I restore my subscription on a new device?
Open Bennett on your new device and go to the paywall screen. Tap "Restore Purchases" at the bottom. Make sure you're signed in with the same Apple ID you used to subscribe. Your subscription will be restored automatically.
Bills & Budgets
How do bill reminders work?
Bennett sends local notifications to remind you of upcoming bills. By default, you'll receive reminders 3 days before, 1 day before, and on the day a bill is due (at 9 AM). All notifications are generated on your device — no server required.
Can I set up recurring bills?
Yes. When adding a bill, you can set its recurrence (monthly, weekly, etc.) and Bennett will automatically track upcoming due dates. Once you mark a bill as paid, the next occurrence is generated automatically.
How do budget alerts work?
When you set a monthly budget for a spending category, Bennett tracks your spending against that limit. You'll receive alerts when you're approaching your budget limit, helping you stay on track.
Sharing & Sync
How do I share my budget with a partner?
Go to Settings > Budget Sharing in the app. You can invite another person to share your budget via iCloud. They'll need to have Bennett installed and iCloud enabled. Once connected, you'll both see the same bills, budgets, and transactions in real time.
Does my data sync across devices?
Yes, if iCloud is enabled on your Apple devices. Your bills, budgets, transactions, and settings will sync automatically across your iPhone and iPad signed into the same Apple ID.
How do I stop sharing my budget?
Go to Settings > Budget Sharing and remove the shared participant. Their access to your shared data will be revoked immediately.
AI Features
What are AI spending insights?
Bennett uses AI to analyze your spending patterns and provide personalized insights. This includes identifying trends, suggesting areas to save, and providing a summary of your financial habits. These insights are for informational purposes only and are not financial advice.
Is my financial data shared with the AI?
AI analysis is processed using your data to generate insights. Your financial data is never sold or shared with third parties for marketing purposes. See our Privacy Policy for details.
